The whole is more than the sum of its parts. LIFETIME’s qualities really come into their own where ceramics and furniture interplay. All the components are always within reach, shelves and storage space can be used to optimum effect. All cabinets are fitted with pull-out elements for maximum clarity and access to the interior. Various furniture finishes and two different handles provide scope for design choice.

Many folks enjoy listening to their favorite tunes while they hit the showers. Being a bathroom singer myself, I too enjoy grooving and singing to tunes while I shower. Usually I take my iPod or my music phone in the shower. But the sound of the shower manages to drain out the music of these devices. Since I lack any space to keep speakers, I have to be content with humming my own tunes. But with the amazing MP3 shower head from Bossini, my woes about listening to music while I shower are definitely over. Christened, the Aquavolo Music-Chromotherapy, this shower head lets you groove while you cleanse without worrying about the music draining out due to the sound of the shower. The stainless steel shower head is equipped with a sound system and two speakers, and connects to your iPod or MP3 player.

COMPONENTS FOR EXTERIORS

RAFs for exteriors are flooring systems that incorporate special ceramic tiles on PVC pedestals of adjustable heights, so that a certain space is left between the substrate and the tiled surface. This kind of floor is typically used for terracing and on flat roofs subject to low to medium pedestrian traffic. The system is made up of pedestals of adjustable heights and special tiles for exterior RAFs.

PEDESTALS
The PVC pedestals act as a support for the tiles and also determine the height of the system and width of the tile joints. They can range in height from 10 mm to 580 mm. In addition to the final height of the base structure, the thickness of the tiles must also be calculated.

CERAMIC TILES
Special ceramic tiles for exterior RAFs are double porcelain tiles glued together with a flexible adhesive with a high bonding strength. The resulting tiles are thick enough to comply with the breaking strength required for this type of raised access flooring.

RAISED ACCESS FLOORING FOR EXTERIORS

The raised access floor (RAF) system for terraces has been specially created to provide an aesthetic solution for terraces containing unsightly drainage slopes. By building a completely flat floor over the existing terrace floor, these slopes are conveniently hidden underneath. Height deviations are offset with height-adjustable plots and any accumulated water is drained through open joints on the newly paved surface and then channeled down the terrace's waterproofed slopes to the drain.

ADVANTAGES

The system can be used to create a flat paved surface over sloping masonry floors with height deviations of up to 2%. Any height deviations over 2% will need to be corrected with mortar or with wedges.
The creation of an air void under the newly paved surface generates a continuous flow of air through the pavement joints, which prevents the build-up of condensation and also produces an insulation layer.
The under floor void, can also be used to house cables, pipes, etc.
Easy to access this space under the floor (do not use P-404 to bond tiles and plots in areas where you need to access the services underneath).
The cavity between the raised floor and the living area below also helps to reduce the penetration of noise into the home.
The system is quick to install as the tiles and supports are installed at the same time.
Advantages of Ston-Ker: Easy to clean, low dimensional tolerances, wide variety of finishes, hardness, etc.

The Façade is the buildings outermost surface. The direct bonding of ceramic tiles means that possible stresses are in the end transferred to tiles. Thus, façade design, the bonding system and the products used must provide the proper levels of safety by guaranteeing that these movements are properly absorbed.

Installation joints
The fact that ceramic pieces remain highly rigid when movements and deformations occur makes it necessary to leave spaces between pieces so that they are better able to absorb these stresses. Therefore, from a technical standpoint it is necessary to render installation joints between tiles, leaving a minimum width of 5 mm (open joint). Tiles should never be installed end-on-end (butt-jointed). The product that should be used to grout these joints is colorstuk, from the professional line of cement-based coloured mortars for grouting installation joints (type CG2, as per EN 13888). The water in the mix should be totally replaced with cl-stuk, a synthetic resin-based latex. This additive helps to increase the imperviousness of joints, while enhancing the grout's flexibility and bonding strength.

Expansion joints
These joints are of fundamental importance in conserving the ceramic-tiled covering against the building's own structural movements as well as those brought on by external factors which may affect the façade. They help to reduce the stresses that may be transmitted to tiles and cause breakage or detachments. These joints should be rendered in those areas where the nature of the substrate changes, as in the case of windows, corners and shifts in plane along the façade. They should also be used in the presence of other structural elements, as with the union between floor slabs or fixed elements. Expansion joints should form sections no larger than 12-16 m2, with these being as square as possible; recommended joint width is 8-10 mm. To seal these joints, use s-502 acetic silicone-based sealant, which offers a high degree of elasticity and weather resistance.

Tile installation

The floating and buttering method should always be used, which consists of spreading the adhesive over the substrate and combing it using a notched trowel. Trowel size should be suitable for the tile format being installed. Afterwards, a thin layer of adhesive is applied to the back of the tile with the flat side of the trowel, so as to ensure full coverage of the tile when it gets pressed down into the adhesive. The adhesive's wettability (coverage) should be checked on a regular basis and should be practically 100%. As an additional safety measure in the Bonded Façade system, metallic fasteners are used to attach each one of the pieces. These fasteners are screwed directly into the substrate and are completely hidden once the façade is grouted. Thus, this effectively makes up for any installation errors and provides the façade covering with total safety.
